My Bio
Art has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember. Sometimes it feels like it is the only thing that makes any sense. For me, there is nothing that calms me down, excites me, pisses me off, frustrates me, and helps me grow as a person more than artwork. I work in wire sculpture, acrylic on canvas, pencil, pen and ink, and in digital media. I feel strongly that experimenting with different art forms and mediums lends perspective and nourishment to feed and help promote the growth of a creative mind.

About three years ago I was asked to do a show for the local coffee shop, a frequent hangout of my friends and mine. I was confused, honored, and frightened that maybe my material wasn't up to par to be displayed at such a venue, having seen the level of skill previous artist before me had shown. I was unaware at the time that most professional artist already have a slew of pieces ready to be displayed before they scheduled a show. So, I said "Yes." I didn't have any pieces done for the show and had to complete around ten pieces in three to four months. Being new, I procrastinated. I procrastinated a lot. Halfway through the time allotted to get everything in order, I started to panic. I had to work morning and night and some nights I went without sleep. I finished all the pieces the day before the deadline. After that show, a year passed and I did another, and another. The second show I think was much more fruitful than the first, seeing as how the first show was all comic book related I couldn't sell any of the pieces I was displaying. I did all "original" work on the second show and my work actually sold! I was super stoked! A friend of mine gave one of my business cards to someone he had met downtown looking for designers. The man got in touch with me and commissioned me to do some work for him. He liked my style and I liked what he was trying to do as a company so it worked. I have been trying to do commission work for other small companies as well, some of them work out, some don't.

In closing, I see artwork being a part of my routine throughout the rest of my life, and I really enjoy sharing my work with other people. Artist especially peak my curiosity, hearing what they have to say about my work, seeing what there is that I might be able to learn from them and vice versa. Art in itself, in my opinion is just a beautiful thing. It is a way to express yourself in a way not all people can. It is mysterious and in your face all at the same time. I'm glad I'm an artist.
